Abstract
Provided is a bacterial strain having a mutation in the gene that codes for monofunctional peptidoglycan transglycosylase (MtgA), wherein the mutation inactivates MtgA or reduces the activity of MtgA in comparison to a control strain lacking the mutation.
Claims12
(canceled)
A bacterial strain that produces a bioplastic, comprising a mutation in a gene encoding monofunctional peptidoglycan glycosyltransferase (MtgA) and further comprising a group of bioplastic biosynthesis genes, wherein the mutation causes inactivation of MtgA or causes a decrease in activity of MtgA as compared with a control strain that does not comprise the mutation.
(canceled)
A method for producing a bacterial strain that produces a bioplastic, the method comprising mutating a gene encoding monofunctional peptidoglycan glycosyltransferase (MtgA) and introducing a group of bioplastic biosynthesis genes, wherein the mutation causes inactivation of MtgA or causes a decrease in activity of MtgA as compared with a control strain that does not comprise the mutation.
