## Abstract

Systems and methods for generating, distributing and consuming image filters as described. An image filter publication application receives data from an image filter engine. The data may include, but is not limited to, images, image filters data and image data. The image filter publication generates image filter formats based on image filters data and associations present in image filters data with, but not limited to, images and image data by means of Unique Resource Identifiers (URIs). A client device's programmatic client's image interactivity engine retrieves an image filter format and its associated images and image data. The image interactivity engine processes and presents the image filter format via a graphical user interface (GUI). In response to interactions with an image filter format comprised image, the image interactivity engine may, based on the image filter format, visually emphasize image shapes within the image. The image filter format may include associations (by means of URIs) between image shapes and a source of image data, therefore the image interactivity engine may retrieve and display the associated image data in a GUI in response to interactions with an image shape.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A system, comprising:
at least one processor; and
at least one memory including instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the system to:
in a first time period:
display a first image via a first graphical user interface (GUI);
generate a first image layer in response to receiving an indication to generate a new image layer;
receive selections corresponding to pixels of the first image;
associate the pixels with outer boundary coordinates of a first shape in the first image; and
associate the first shape with a first image layer; and
in a second time period after the first time period:
display a second image via a second GUI, the second image corresponding at least in part to the first image;
receive an indication corresponding to a first location of the second image, the first location corresponding to the first shape; and
while receiving the indication, deemphasize at least a second shape in the second image.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the indication corresponds to one of a hover action or a selection of the first shape

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the system to:
receive second selections corresponding to second pixels of the first image, the second pixels being within the pixels;

while receiving the indication, deemphasize the third shape.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the system to:
receive second selections corresponding to second pixels of the first image, the second pixels being outside of the pixels;
associate the second pixels with second outer boundary coordinates of a third shape in the first image; and
while receiving the indication, emphasize the first shape and the third shape by deemphasizing at least the second shape.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the system to:
based on receiving the indication, determine the first shape corresponds to the first image layer;
determine portions of the second image unassociated with the first image layer; and
generate an overlay including:
a first portion having a first fill opacity, the first portion corresponding to pixels of the second image corresponding to the portions of the second image unassociated with the first image layer, and
a second portion having a transparent fill opacity, the second portion corresponding to pixels of the second image corresponding to the first image layer,
wherein deemphasizing at least the second shape includes applying the overlay to the second image.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the system to:
based on receiving the indication, determine the first shape corresponds to the first image layer;
determine at least one portion of the second image unassociated with the first image layer, the at least one portion including the second shape; and
determine pixels associated with the second shape;
wherein deemphasizing at least the second shape includes altering hues of the pixels.

### Claim 8

A computer-implemented method, comprising:
in a first time period:
displaying a first image via a first graphical user interface (GUI);
generating a first image layer in response to receiving an indication to generate a new image layer;
receiving selections corresponding to pixels of the first image;
associating the pixels with outer boundary coordinates of a first shape in the first image; and
associating the first shape with a first image layer; and
in a second time period after the first time period:
displaying a second image via a second GUI, the second image corresponding at least in part to the first image;
receiving an indication corresponding to a first location of the second image, the first location corresponding to the first shape; and
while receiving the indication, deemphasizing at least a second shape in the second image.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The computer-implemented method of claim 8, wherein the indication corresponds to one of a hover action or a selection of the first shape

### Claim 10 (depends on 8)

The computer-implemented method of claim 8, wherein deemphasizing at least the second shape includes applying a deemphasizing cascading style sheet (CSS).

### Claim 11 (depends on 8)

The computer-implemented method of claim 8, further comprising:
receiving second selections corresponding to second pixels of the first image, the second pixels being within the pixels;
associating the second pixels with second outer boundary coordinates of a third shape in the first image; and
while receiving the indication, deemphasizing the third shape.

### Claim 12 (depends on 8)

The computer-implemented method of claim 8, further comprising:
receiving second selections corresponding to second pixels of the first image, the second pixels being outside of the pixels;
