Random access channel design, methods, and apparatus

An apparatus comprising:

• a receiver to receive, at a network element in a communication network, a random access channel message from a User Equipment (UE), the random access channel message comprising multiple sequences, wherein the multiple sequences include a first sequence associated with a group of UEs that includes the UE and a second sequence associated with the UE;
• a transmitter;
• and
• a processor, operatively coupled to the receiver and to the transmitter.

A User Equipment (UE) comprising:

• a transmitter;
• a receiver;
• and
• a processor, coupled to the transmitter and to the receiver, to:
• transmit a random access channel message to a network element in a communication network, the random access channel message comprising multiple sequences, wherein the multiple sequences include a first sequence associated with a group of UEs that includes the UE and a second sequence associated with the UE.
