Abstract
A mobile station (MS), a base station subsystem (BSS), and various methods are described herein that enable a positioning node (e.g., Serving Mobile Location Center (SMLC)) to improve the accuracy of estimating a position of the mobile station.
Claims16
A mobile station configured to interact with a base station subsystem (BSS), the BSS including a base transceiver station (BTS), the mobile station comprising:
- a processor;
- and,
- a memory that stores processor-executable instructions, wherein the processor interfaces with the memory to execute the processor-executable instructions, whereby the mobile station is operable to:
- receive, from the BSS, a multilateration request;
- in response to receipt of the multilateration request, estimate a synchronization accuracy with the BTS;
- and,
- transmit, to the BSS, a Radio Link Control (RLC) data block that includes at least (i) a Temporary Logical Link Identifier (TLLI) of the mobile station, and (ii) the estimated synchronization accuracy.
A method in a mobile station configured to interact with a base station subsystem (BSS), the BSS including a base transceiver station (BTS), the method comprising:
- receiving, from the BSS, a multilateration request;
- in response to receiving the multilateration request, estimating a synchronization accuracy with the BTS;
- and,
- transmitting, to the BSS, a Radio Link Control (RLC) data block that includes at least (i) a Temporary Logical Link Identifier (TLLI) of the mobile station, and (ii) the estimated synchronization accuracy.
A base station subsystem (BSS) configured to interact with a mobile station and including a base transceiver station (BTS), the BSS comprising:
- a processor;
- and,
- a memory that stores processor-executable instructions, wherein the processor interfaces with the memory to execute the processor-executable instructions, whereby the BSS is operable to:
- transmit, to the mobile station, a multilateration request;
- and,
- receive, from the mobile station, a Radio Link Control (RLC) data block that includes at least (i) a Temporary Logical Link Identifier (TLLI) of the mobile station, and (ii) an estimated mobile station synchronization accuracy, wherein the estimated mobile station synchronization accuracy indicates an estimate by the mobile station of an accuracy by which the mobile station is synchronized to the BTS.
A method in a base station subsystem (BSS) which includes a base transceiver station (BTS) and is configured to interact with a mobile station, the method comprising:
- transmitting, to the mobile station, a multilateration request;
- and,
- receiving, from the mobile station, a Radio Link Control (RLC) data block that includes at least (i) a Temporary Logical Link Identifier (TLLI) of the mobile station, and (ii) an estimated mobile station synchronization accuracy, wherein the estimated mobile station synchronization accuracy indicates an estimate by the mobile station of an accuracy by which the mobile station is synchronized to the BTS.
