Abstract
Methods of tuning a receive window. A receiving device and a sending device may be in communication over a network. The receiving device may advertise a receive window to the sending device. The size of the receive window may be adjusted over time based on one or more connection parameters, application parameters and/or operating system parameters.
Claims20
A method performed on a hardware computing device, the method comprising:
- receiving, by the hardware computing device via a network from a second device, a receive window size of the second device, where the receive window size is based on an estimated round trip time over the network between the computing device and the second device;
- and
- sending, by the hardware computing device via the network to the second device, a communication comprising an amount of data that is based on the receive window size.
A hardware computing device comprising:
- at least one hardware processor;
- memory that is coupled to the at least one hardware processor and that includes computer-executable instructions that, based on execution by the hardware computing device, configure the hardware computing device to perform actions comprising:
- receiving, by the hardware computing device via a network from a second device, a receive window size of the second device, where the receive window size is based on an estimated round trip time over the network between the computing device and the second device;
- and
- sending, by the hardware computing device via the network to the second device, a communication comprising an amount of data that is based on the receive window size.
At least one hardware computer storage device that comprises computer-executable instructions that, based on execution by a hardware computing device, configure the hardware computing device to perform actions comprising:
- receiving, by the hardware computing device via a network from a second device, a receive window size of the second device, where the receive window size is based on an estimated round trip time over the network between the computing device and the second device;
- and
- sending, by the hardware computing device via the network to the second device, a communication comprising an amount of data that is based on the receive window size.
