Systems, methods, and apparatus to facilitate mapping a device name to a hardware address

A method of identifying a media presentation device, the method comprising:

• retrieving, by executing an instruction with a processor of a network communications monitor installed on a local area network, a list of devices identified as present within the local area network from a network activity measurement system located outside of the local area network;
• identifying, by executing an instruction with the processor, a list of hardware addresses of devices on the local area network;
• receiving, from a user, a mapping between a device in the list of devices and a hardware address in the hardware addresses;
• and
• providing the mapping from the network communications monitor to the network activity measurement system.

A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions which, when executed, cause a processor of a network communications monitor installed on a local area network to at least:

• retrieve a list of devices identified as present within the local area network from a network activity measurement system located outside of the local area network;
• identify a list of hardware addresses of devices on the local area network;
• receive, from a user, a mapping between a device in the list of devices and a hardware address in the hardware addresses;
• and
• provide the mapping from the network communications monitor to the network activity measurement system.
