Abstract
In an embodiment, a battery module fixation arrangement includes gaps arranged between fixation recesses and fixation pins. Upon insertion of a battery module into a battery module compartment, each gap is at least partially filled with a curing material that cures after the insertion. In a further embodiment, the fixation recesses may include cartridges that comprise a foam material along with multiple components that mix to form the curing material after the insertion.
Claims33
A battery module fixation arrangement for a battery module that is configured for insertion into a battery module compartment along an insertion direction, comprising:
- a first battery module component including a set of fixation recesses;
- a second battery module component including a set of fixation pins extending into the set of fixation recesses while the battery module is inserted into the battery module compartment;
- and
- a set of gaps defined between the set of fixation recesses the set of fixation pins extending therein,
- wherein each gap among the set of gaps is filled at least in part with a curing material that is configured to cure inside of the gap after insertion of the battery module into the battery module compartment.
A method of affixing a battery module to a battery module compartment, comprising:
- applying a curing material to a set of fixation recesses on a first battery module component;
- inserting the battery module into the battery module compartment such that a set of fixation pins on a second battery module component extends into the set of fixation recesses,
- wherein the inserting causes a set of gaps to be defined between the set of fixation recesses and the set of fixation pins extending therein, and
- wherein each gap is filled at least in part with the curing material, the curing material being configured to cure inside of the gap after the inserting.
A cartridge configured to facilitate fixation of a battery module in a battery module compartment, comprising:
- a foam material section containing a foam material;
- a first curing material component section including a first curing component of a 2-component curing material;
- a second curing material component section including a second curing component of the 2-component curing material;
- a dividing wall between the first and second curing material component sections, the dividing wall configured to block the first and second curing components from mixing to form the 2-component curing material until the dividing wall is ruptured;
- and
- a cartridge frame that includes solid sections and perforations, the perforations configured to permit passage of the 2-component curing material after the dividing wall is ruptured.
