Utensils for the promotion of mindful consumption

Non-transitory computer readable media comprising program code that when executed by a programmable processor causes execution of a method for promoting the mindful consumption of a resource, the program code comprising:

• program code for interacting with a device to enter an initial state;
• program code for receiving data indicative of a magnitude and direction of acceleration of the device;
• program code for determining if the received data exceeds a threshold;
• and
• program code for transitioning the device to a secondary state if the received data exceeds the threshold.

An apparatus for promoting the mindful consumption of a resource, the apparatus comprising a body configured to house:

• an accelerometer to generate data indicative of a magnitude and direction of acceleration of the body;
• a first LED, the illumination of which indicates that the apparatus is in an initial state;
• a second LED, the illumination of which indicates that the apparatus is in a secondary state;
• and
• a programmable microprocessor operative to execute program code that instructs the programmable microprocessor to receive the data generated by the accelerometer and compare the received data against a threshold to illuminate the second LED and darken the first LED when the comparison indicates the threshold is exceeded.
