Abstract
A remote control device includes a digital audio storage device, a talk button, and an optical distance measurer. The digital audio storage device is configured to continually record an audio input for a specific amount of time. The talk button is coupled to the digital audio storage device and is configured to initiate a transmission of the audio input to a set-top box device. The optical distance measurer is coupled to the talk button and is configured to automatically measure a distance to a user in response to the talk button being pressed.
Claims20
A remote control device, comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, facilitate performance of operations comprising:
- measuring a volume level of received speech after the received speech falls below an audio threshold;
- determining whether, within a predetermined length of time after the volume level of the received speech falls below the audio threshold, the received speech includes a command function to yield a determination;
- and
- transmitting, based on the determination, data associated with the command function to a media device.
A method comprising:
- measuring, via a processor, a volume level of received speech after the received speech falls below an audio threshold;
- determining whether, within a predetermined length of time after the volume level of the received speech falls below the audio threshold, the received speech includes a command function to yield a determination;
- and
- transmitting, based on the determination, data associated with the command function to a media device.
A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, facilitate performance of operations comprising:
- measuring a volume level of received speech after the received speech falls below an audio threshold;
- determining whether, within a predetermined length of time after the volume level of the received speech falls below the audio threshold, the received speech includes a command function to yield a determination;
- and
- transmitting, based on the determination, data associated with the command function to a media device.
