Abstract
A mobile device is made resistant to malware. Wireless mobile devices are paired with short-distance wireless technology to separate user gadgets like keyfobs. Two or more pieces of security passwords are escrowed separately amongst the physically distinct devices. Neither the mobile device nor its matching keyfob store or keep entire passwords.
Claims6
A mobile device resistant to malware, comprising:
- a mobile device;
- a malicious mobile app infecting the mobile device;
- and
- an escrow in the form of a data storage device physically separable from the mobile device and storing confidential and sensitive data.
1 more element
An improved wireless mobile device rendered resistant to any malware resident in the wireless mobile device by the improvement comprising:
- a pocket device that can be carried or worn by a user, and that is available and accessible when the user operates a wireless mobile device;
- a short-range wireless transceiver disposed in the pocket device that is periodically and automatically linked or paired to a compatible short-range wireless transceiver disposed in the wireless mobile device;
- a data escrow storage device disposed in the pocket device;
- a button disposed in the pocket device and wired to enable the user to trigger the data escrow storage device to release security data to the wireless mobile device over a link established between the respective short-range wireless transceivers;
- and
- a mobile app installable on the wireless mobile device that when executed functions to split a whole security data into at least two co-dependent parts, and that pushes at least one co-dependent part to the data escrow storage device over the link established between the respective short-range wireless transceivers and another co-dependent part to local storage in the wireless mobile device;
- wherein, neither the wireless mobile device nor the data escrow storage device retain all the co-dependent parts, and only together in combination do they enable a reconstitution of the whole security data useful to authenticate the user to a secure website.
