Integrated wireless display and remote configuration transmitter

A system comprising:

• a field device configured to obtain measurements of one or more process variables in an industrial process control and automation system;
• a communication unit coupled to the field device, the communication unit including a short-range wireless transceiver configured to transmit and receive the measurements;
• a power interface configured to provide 4-20 ma current to the field device and the communication unit;
• and
• at least one processor configured to:
• receive, from one or more other devices, a request for access to the measurements;
• and
• transmit, to the one or more other devices, the measurements.

A method comprising:

• providing 4-20 ma current to a field device and a short-range communication unit coupled to the field device in an industrial process control and automation system;
• communicating, by the short-range communication unit coupled to the field device, with one or more other devices;
• receiving, from the one or more other devices, a request for access to one or more measurements, obtained by the field device, of one or more process variables in the industrial process control and automation system;
• and
• transmitting, to the one or more other devices, the measurements.
