Abstract
A sensor device can include a transition metal complex capable of interacting with a carbon-carbon multiple bond moiety. The sensor can detect the fruit-ripening hormone ethylene with high sensitivity.
Claims16
A sensor comprising:
- a conductive material comprising a carbon-carbon multiple bond moiety, the conductive material being in electrical communication with at least two electrodes;
- and
- a transition metal complex mixed with the conductive material, wherein the transition metal complex is capable of forming a stable complex with ethylene.
-35. (canceled)
A method of sensing an analyte, comprising:
- exposing a sensor to a sample, the sensor including:
- a conductive material comprising a carbon-carbon multiple bond moiety, the conductive material being in electrical communication with at least two electrodes;
- and
- a transition metal complex mixed with the conductive material, wherein the transition metal complex is capable of forming a stable complex with ethylene and
- measuring an electrical property at the electrodes.
