Abstract
Various embodiments are generally directed to techniques for network charting and configuration in a welding or cutting system. A system master node of a welding system may receive a system composition. The system master node may determine one or more capabilities or limitations of other nodes within the welding system. The system master node may determine a configuration of the welding system. The system master node may create a network map including the determined one or more capabilities or limitations and the determined configuration of the welding system. The system master node may store the network map. The system master node may send network map to one or more of the other nodes in the welding system.

A computer-implemented method, comprising:
- determining, for a plurality of nodes in a welding system, whether a particular node is a network master node or a system master node.
A welding system comprising a plurality of nodes, wherein the system comprises a plurality of processors and a plurality of network interfaces, and wherein at least one processor is configured to:
- determine, for a plurality of nodes in a welding system, whether a particular node is a network master node or a system master node.
A welding apparatus comprising a plurality of nodes, wherein the system comprises a processor and a network interface, and wherein the processor is configured to:
- determine, for a plurality of nodes in a welding apparatus, whether a particular node is a network master node or a system master node;
- when the particular node is determined to be a network master node, configure the network master node to probe the network to identify network slaves and obtain metadata for each identified slave, and send information pertaining to identified network slaves and respective metadata to the system master node.
An article including a computer program product embodied on a non-transitory computer readable storage media storing instructions, that, when executed by one or more processors, performs the steps of:
- determining, for a plurality of nodes in a welding system, whether a particular node is a network master node or a system master node.
