Abstract
An agricultural enhancement method for removing or overcoming soil fragipan, hardpan, or other natural and/or artificial soil compaction barriers is disclosed. These barriers prevent root and/or water penetration, which inhibits agricultural development. Consequently, removing and overcoming these barriers is beneficial to the soil and to agricultural yields.
Claims20
A method of removing restrictive formations within soil, comprising:
- loading a charge spool with a charge mechanism onto a charge application plow;
- securing into position and guiding the charge mechanism through a plurality of routing pulleys and a cut-off assembly into a charge channel;
- advancing a tow vehicle while simultaneously moving vibration mechanism;
- lowering a plurality of shanks to a desired depth within the soil;
- rolling off the charge mechanism and locating the charge mechanism at a prescribed depth within the restrictive formation or just below it;
- determining whether desired span of charge mechanism is laid or not;
- severing the charge mechanism from a remaining quantity on the charge spool;
- attaching a detonator to the charge mechanism;
- covering the exposed surface portion of the charge mechanism with loose soil;
- attaching the detonator to a firing mechanism;
- and
- detonating the charge mechanism.

A method of decementing restrictive formations within soil, comprising:
- fitting a charge application plow with a charge application blade configured to apply a de-cementing compound mixture into the subsurface shank head cavity, or charge tube cavity left in the wake of the shank as it passes through the soil;
- depositing de-cementing compound mixture in the void along with the dispensed charge line\tube;
- affixing a supply hose to a de-cementing compound supply connection portion of the charge application blade thereby allowing the de-cementing compound mixture to be pumped into and through the charge channel assembly into the subsurface shank head cavity at a metered rate;
- advancing the tow vehicle and engaging the vibration mechanism or blade vibration assembly;
- lowering the blades to a desired depth;
- vibrating the blades through the soil;
- rolling off a predetermined portion of charge tube into the soil;
- pumping the de-cementing compound mixture into and through the charge channel into the subsurface head cavity at a metered rate to correspond to the application's target area of treatment influence;
- initiating and detonating the charge line;
- sending a shockwave into the restrictive soil zone;
- shattering the cemented features and fracturing the soil particles and driving the de-cementing compound mixture into the targeted formations;
- and
- mixing the de-cementing compound mixture particles within the targeted soil formations thereby chemically altering the formerly restrictive soil barriers to prevent re-cementing.

A system of removing restrictive formations within soil, comprising:
- a charge application plow;
- a charge spool located on the charge application plow, the charge spool having routing pulleys, the charge spool containing a plurality of charge line which is fed or unspooled through the routing pulleys;
- a plurality of shanks, the shanks displacing portions of the soil at predetermined depths thereby creating a charge cavity within the soil, the shanks also assisting the deposit of charge line within the charge cavity;
- the shanks also in physical communication with the charge spools.
