Abstract
The present invention relates to a method for predicting sensitivity to treatment with vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR) inhibitors, by using a biomarker. An effective means and anticancer therapy for cancer treatment of liver cancer are selected by predicting the effect of treatment with VEGFR inhibitors on liver cancer patients through the present invention, thereby increasing the treatment effect and minimizing the side effects of liver cancer treatment.
Claims16
A method for predicting sensitivity to a vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR) inhibitor, the method comprising the steps of:
- (a) measuring expression levels of mTOR in samples isolated from liver cancer patients;
- and
- (b) comparing the expression levels of mTOR with a reference level of mTOR expression, and selecting samples having the expression level of mTOR equal to or higher than the reference level.
A composition for predicting sensitivity to a vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR) inhibitor, the composition containing an agent for measuring the mRNA expression level of mTOR.
A method of treating liver cancer using a vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR) inhibitor, the method comprising the steps of:
- (a) measuring expression levels of mTOR in samples isolated from liver cancer patients;
- (b) comparing the expression levels of mTOR with a reference level of mTOR expression, and selecting samples having an mTOR expression level equal to or higher than the reference level;
- and (c) administering a therapeutically effective amount of the vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR) inhibitor to the liver cancer patients showing the mTOR expression level equal to or higher than the reference level.
