## Abstract

Image session identifier techniques are described. In one or more implementations, a request is received to create an image sharing session and a session identifier is generated for the image sharing session that is configured to act as a credential to join the image sharing session as a member. A communication is formed that includes the generated session identifier and that is configured for communication via a network to an originator of the request.

## Claims

### Claim at position 1

1-20. (canceled)

### Claim 21

A method implemented by at least one computing device, the method comprising:
receiving, by the at least one computing device, a request to initiate an image sharing session;
communicating, by the at least one computing device, the request to a service provider via a network;
receiving, by the at least one computing device, a quick response (QR) code as a session identifier from the service provider via the network in response to the request; and
distributing, by the at least one computing device, the QR code for receipt by at least one other computing device, the QR code configured to permit direct access by the at least one other computing device to the image sharing session to share digital images as part of the image sharing session.

### Claim 22 (depends on 21)

The method as described in claim 21, wherein the QR code includes a network address that is usable to access the image sharing sessions directly without providing additional credentials.

### Claim 23 (depends on 21)

The method as described in claim 21, wherein the QR code is generated by the service provider by querying a collection of reserved session identifiers to determine availability of the generated session identifier and the forming is performed response to an indication of availability.

### Claim 24 (depends on 21)

The method as described in claim 21, wherein the request includes a suggested session identifier and the QR code is generated by the service provider based at least in part on the suggested session identifier.

### Claim 25 (depends on 21)

The method as described in claim 21, wherein the request includes a description of one or more characteristics of an event and the QR code is generated by the service provider based at least in part on the description.

### Claim 26 (depends on 21)

The method as described in claim 21, further comprising generating a user interface is usable to manage membership of the at least one computing device as part of the image sharing session.

### Claim 27 (depends on 26)

The method as described in claim 26, wherein the user interface is configured to support verification that the at least one computing device is to be added to the image sharing session.

### Claim 28 (depends on 21)

The method as described in claim 21, further comprising generating a user interface usable to manage the image sharing session by permitting distribution of images between members of the image sharing session and restricting distribution of images to non-members of the image sharing session.

### Claim 29

A method implemented by at least one computing device, the method comprising:
scanning, by an image capture device of the at least one computing device, a quick response (QR) code, the QR code associated with an image sharing session;
accessing, by the at least one computing device, the image sharing session via a network as a member of the image sharing session in response to the scanning of the QR code, the accessing performed directly without additional authentication; and
sharing, by the at least one computing device, at least one image as part of the image sharing session.

### Claim 30 (depends on 29)

The method as described in claim 29, wherein the sharing includes upload of the at least one image via the network for access by at least one other computing device.

### Claim 31 (depends on 29)

The method as described in claim 29, wherein the sharing includes download of the at least one image via the network that was uploaded to the image sharing session by at least one other computing device.

### Claim 32

A system comprising:
means for receiving a request from a computing device via a network to initiate an image sharing session;
means for generating a quick response (QR) code as a session identifier in response to the request, the QR code provides direct access to the image sharing session to share digital images as part of the image sharing session;
means for receiving a communication to join the image sharing session from at least one other computing device, the communication generated based on the QR code;
means for adding the at least one other computing device as a member of the image sharing session based on the communication; and
means for managing communication of images as part of the image sharing session.

### Claim 33 (depends on 32)

The system as described in claim 32, wherein the QR code includes a network address that is usable to access the image sharing sessions directly without providing additional credentials.

### Claim 34 (depends on 32)

The system as described in claim 32, wherein the generating means generates the QR code by querying a collection of reserved session identifiers to determine availability of the generated session identifier.

### Claim 35 (depends on 32)

The system as described in claim 32, wherein the generating means generates the QR code based at least in part on a suggested session identifier.

### Claim 36 (depends on 32)

The system as described in claim 32, wherein the generating means generates the QR code based at least in part on a description of one or more characteristics of an event.

### Claim 37 (depends on 32)

The system as described in claim 32, wherein the managing means is configured to generate a user interface usable to manage membership of the at least one computing device as part of the image sharing session.

### Claim 38 (depends on 37)

The system as described in claim 37, wherein the user interface is configured to support verification that the at least one computing device is to be added to the image sharing session.

### Claim 39 (depends on 32)

The system as described in claim 32, wherein the managing means is configured to generate a user interface usable to manage the image sharing session by permitting distribution of images between members of the image sharing session and restricting distribution of images to non-members of the image sharing session.

### Claim 40 (depends on 32)

The system as described in claim 32, wherein the QR code acts as a credential to join the image sharing session directly without providing any other credentials.
