## Abstract

According to the present invention, a user equipment (UE) calculates its paging occasion based on a specific beam to monitor paging. In detail, the UE selects at least one beam among multiple beams, calculates a paging occasion consisting of the at least one beam, and monitors a paging in the paging occasion. When the paging occasion consists of the multiple beams including the at least one beam, the paging may be monitored in a part of the paging occasion where the at least one beam is transmitted. Alternatively, when the paging occasion only consists of the at least one beam, the paging may be monitored in all of the paging occasion where the at least one beam is transmitted.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method for calculating a beamforming based paging occasion, by a user equipment (UE), in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
selecting, by the UE, at least one beam among multiple beams;
calculating, by the UE, a paging occasion consisting of the at least one beam; and
monitoring, by the UE, a paging in the paging occasion.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the paging occasion is calculated based on a beam index of the at least one beam.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one beam has a highest quality among the multiple beams.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one beam has a quality above a threshold.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the paging occasion consists of the multiple beams including the at least one beam.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The method of claim 5, wherein the paging is monitored in a part of the paging occasion where the at least one beam is transmitted.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the paging occasion only consists of the at least one beam.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, wherein the paging is monitored in all of the paging occasion where the at least one beam is transmitted.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the paging includes a paging message or a paging indicator.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, wherein the paging indicator corresponds to a paging radio network temporary identity (P-RNTI).

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the paging occasion is calculated based on a number of the multiple beams.

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the paging occasion is calculated based on a number of beams provided in a cell.

### Claim 13 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the paging occasion is calculated based on a number of beams in a carrier corresponding to the cell.

### Claim 14 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the paging occasion is calculated based on a number of synchronization signal (SS) blocks.

### Claim 15 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the paging occasion is calculated based on a periodicity of SS block transmission.

### Claim 16

A user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, the UE comprising:
a memory;
a transceiver; and
a processor, coupled to the memory and the transceiver, that:
selects at least one beam among multiple beams,
calculates a paging occasion consisting of the at least one beam, and
monitors a paging in the paging occasion.

### Claim 17 (depends on 16)

The UE of claim 16, wherein the paging occasion is calculated based on a beam index of the at least one beam.

### Claim 18 (depends on 16)

The UE of claim 16, wherein the at least one beam has a highest quality among the multiple beams, or has a quality above a threshold.

### Claim 19 (depends on 16)

The UE of claim 16, wherein the paging occasion consists of the multiple beams including the at least one beam, and
wherein the paging is monitored in a part of the paging occasion where the at least one beam is transmitted.

### Claim 20 (depends on 16)

The UE of claim 16, wherein the paging occasion only consists of the at least one beam, and
wherein the paging is monitored in all of the paging occasion where the at least one beam is transmitted.
