## Abstract

A doorbell system comprises a doorbell chime (18), a first doorbell push (10) for sending a first input signal to the doorbell chime (18) in response to the first doorbell push (10) being activated, and a second device, such as a second doorbell push (14), for sending a second input signal to the doorbell chime (18). The doorbell chime (18) is arranged to emit light (24) of a first colour in response to receiving the first input signal and light of a second, different, colour in response to receiving the second input signal. The light (24) may be emitted around a perimeter of the doorbell chime, such that it creates a halo effect around the part of the door chime located within said perimeter.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A doorbell chime comprising a light unit, the light unit arranged to emit light of a first colour in response to receiving an input signal from a first doorbell push, and wherein the doorbell chime is also operable into a night light mode in which the light unit is arranged to continuously emit light such that the doorbell chime can act as a night light.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The doorbell chime according to claim 1, wherein the doorbell chime is configurable to emit light in the night light mode in response to a timer.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The doorbell chime according to claim 1, wherein the night light mode is initiated by a user.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The doorbell chime according to claim 1, wherein the night light mode is initiated by a user by pressing a button.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The doorbell chime according to claim 1, wherein the night light mode is initiated by a user and remains operable until deactivated by a user.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The doorbell chime according to claim 1, wherein the night light mode is initiated by a user and remains operable for a set period of time.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The doorbell chime according to claim 1, wherein the night light mode is initiated by a timer.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The doorbell chime according to claim 1, wherein the night light mode is activated and deactivated by a timer.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The doorbell chime according to claim 1, wherein the doorbell chime is configurable to remain in the night light mode until deactivated by a user.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The doorbell chime according to claim 1, wherein the doorbell chime is configured to remain in the night light mode for predetermined period of time.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The doorbell chime according to claim 1, wherein the colour and/or intensity of the light emitted in the night light mode is different from the first colour.

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

A doorbell chime according to claim 1, wherein the doorbell chime is arranged to be able to receive mains power.

### Claim 13 (depends on 1)

The doorbell chime according to claim 1, wherein the doorbell chime is part of a doorbell system comprising:
the doorbell chime,
the first doorbell push for sending the input signal to the doorbell chime in response to the first doorbell push being activated, and
a second device for sending a second input signal to the doorbell chime,
wherein the light unit is arranged to emit light of the first colour in response to receiving the input signal from the first doorbell push and light of a second, different, colour in response to receiving the second input signal.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

The doorbell chime according to claim 13, wherein the second device is a second doorbell push for sending the second input signal to the doorbell chime in response to the second doorbell push being activated.

### Claim 15

A doorbell chime comprising a light unit, the light unit arranged to emit light of a first colour in response to receiving an input signal from a doorbell push, and wherein the doorbell chime is operable into a night light mode in which the light unit is arranged to emit light of a second colour such that the doorbell chime can act as a night light, wherein the first colour and the second colour are different.

### Claim 16 (depends on 15)

The doorbell chime of claim 15, wherein the night light mode is temporarily overridden when the input signal is received from the doorbell push whereby the light unit temporarily emits light of the first colour.

### Claim 17 (depends on 15)

The doorbell chime according to claim 15, wherein the night light mode is initiated by a user operated switch.

### Claim 18

A doorbell chime comprising a light unit, the light unit arranged to emit light of a first colour in response to receiving an input signal from a first doorbell push and to emit light of a second colour in response to receiving an input signal from a second doorbell push, and wherein the doorbell chime is operable into a night light mode in which the light unit is arranged to emit light of a third colour such that the doorbell chime can act as a night light, wherein the first colour, the second colour and the third colour are all different.

### Claim 19 (depends on 18)

The doorbell chime of claim 18, wherein the night light mode is temporarily overridden when:
the input signal is received from the first doorbell push whereby the light unit temporarily emits light of the first colour; and
the input signal is received from the second doorbell push whereby the light unit temporarily emits light of the second colour.

### Claim 20 (depends on 18)

The doorbell chime according to claim 18, wherein the night light mode is initiated by a user operated switch.
