## Abstract

An event-to-spectator correlation tool includes a multiprocessor computing system. The multiprocessor computing system has a first processor, a second processor, and at least one memory coupled to the multiprocessor computing system. The at least one memory is arranged to store computer instructions executable by the first and second processors of the multiprocessor computing system. The computer instructions are arranged to direct the multiprocessor computing system to identify a gathering to view an event at a venue. The computer instructions are further arranged to direct the multiprocessor computing system to determine a total possible attendance at the gathering, determine a regional popularity of the event, determine a global popularity of the event, and predict an expected attendance at the venue by cooperatively attenuating the total possible attendance based on a combination of the regional popularity of the event and the global popularity of the event.

generating, with the distributed computing server, the first value as an accumulation of interested parties having at least some common location information.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

A method according to claim 6 wherein the location information includes at least one of a postal code, a portion of an internet protocol (IP) address, and global positioning system (GPS)-based information.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

A method according to claim 7 wherein the at least some common location information includes a plurality of postal codes, a plurality of IP address portions, and a geographic location within a determined geographic area.

### Claim 9 (depends on 4)

A method according to claim 4 wherein determining the regional popularity of the event comprises:
establishing, at a distributed computing server, a regional popularity baseline value representing an average regional event with average regional popularity;
setting, with the distributed computing server, a regional popularity working value to the regional popularity baseline value; and
updating, with the distributed computing server, the regional popularity working value by increasing or decreasing the regional popularity working value based on individual values of a set of determined regional popularity factors, the set of determined regional popularity factors including one or more of:
a conflicting event factor;
a local economic indicator;
a previous participation factor;
a social demographic factor;
a political factor;
a local population density factor;
a time-of-event factor;

a weather forecast factor;
a local availability of electronic delivery of the event factor; and
a wildcard factor.

### Claim 10 (depends on 4)

A method according to claim 4 wherein determining the global popularity of the event comprises:
establishing, at a distributed computing server, a global popularity baseline value representing an average global event with average global popularity;
setting, with the distributed computing server, a global popularity working value to the global popularity baseline value; and
updating, with the distributed computing server, the global popularity working value by increasing or decreasing the global popularity working value based on individual values of a set of determined global popularity factors, the set of determined global popularity factors including one or more of:
a team win/loss record;
a nature of the event factor;
a factor representing status of individual participants;
a current performance factor;
an historical performance factor;
a determined excitement factor;
a competing-events factor;
an estimated viewing attendance factor;
a third-party social media data factor; and
a wildcard factor.

### Claim 11

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium whose stored contents configure a computing system to perform a method, the method comprising:
electronically receiving information at a computing device, the information representing a primary event of interest, wherein the computing device is communicatively coupled to the computing system;
identifying with the computing device a plurality of geographic regions having access to the primary event of interest;
determining a total possible audience for a gathering directed toward the primary event of interest in each of the plurality of geographic regions;
generating at least one regional event weighting factor for each region of the plurality of geographic regions, each regional event weighting factor associated with at least one geographic region having access to the primary event of interest;
generating a global event weighting factor, the global event weighting factor associated with the primary event of interest; and
predicting a plurality of expected attendance estimates, each of the plurality of expected attendance estimates being an expected attendance estimate for the gathering at a venue located within a respective geographic region, wherein each predicted expected attendance estimate is generated by mathematically combining an associated regional event weighting factor and the global event weighting factor with the associated total possible audience.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 11 whose stored contents configure the computing system to perform the method, the method further comprising:
