## Abstract

Systems and methods for full motion video search are provided. In one aspect, a method includes receiving one or more search terms. The search terms include one or more of a characterization of the amount of man-made features in a video image and a characterization of the amount of natural features in the video image. The method further includes searching a full motion video database based on the one or more search terms.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method of adding a video entity to a full motion video database supporting search capabilities, the method comprising:
determining a starting cell in the full motion video database; and
determining if the starting cell should be split, and if the starting cell should be split:
splitting the starting cell to create two new child cells, and
adding the video entity to one of the two new child cells.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein splitting the starting cell comprises splitting the starting cell along a split axis.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the split axis is along a line of latitude.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the split axis is along a line of longitude.

### Claim 5 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the two new child cells are created along the split axis.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising moving one or more video entities stored in the starting cell from the starting cell to the new child cells.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The method of claim 6, further comprising adding pointers to the starting cell pointing to the child cells.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein determining if the starting cell should be split comprises determining if the starting cell is full.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The method of claim 8, further comprising adding the video entity to the starting cell if the starting cell not full.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising:
determining a child cell from a plurality of child cells of the starting cell if the starting cell contains a plurality of child cells; and
adding the video entity to one of the plurality of child cells.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, wherein the one of the plurality of child cells the video entity is added to is determined based on the video entity.

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising if the starting cell contains a plurality of child cells:
determining a child cell from the plurality of child cells; and
adding the video entity to the full motion video database using the child cell as a starting cell.

### Claim 13

A method of accessing full motion video data stored in a geospatial video database supporting search capabilities and having a dimension of time, the method comprising:
performing a spatial query of the video database; and
filtering results of the query by time.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

The method of claim 13, wherein the spatial query is based on one or more search terms.

### Claim 15 (depends on 14)

The method of claim 14, wherein the one or more search terms comprise one or more characteristics of the amount of man-made features in a scene.

### Claim 16 (depends on 15)

The method of claim 15, wherein the one or more search terms further comprise one or more characteristics of the amount of natural features in the scene.

### Claim 17 (depends on 13)

The method of claim 13, further comprising identifying one or more buildings in at least a portion of the video entity.

### Claim 18 (depends on 17)

The method of claim 17, further comprising identifying one or more of a size, color, shape solidity, rooftop lack of detail, strong edges, or cast shadows of the identified one or more buildings.

### Claim 19 (depends on 13)

The method of claim 13, further comprising receiving a full motion video search request, wherein the search request indicates one or more of a building size, building color, building geo-location attributes, building shape, a building rooftop detail, a building edge characterization, or a building cast shadow characterization, and performing the spatial query based on the search request.

### Claim 20

A method of adding a video entity to a full motion video database supporting search capabilities, the method comprising:
splitting a starting cell in the full motion video database to create two new child cells; and
adding the video entity to one of the two new child cells.
