## Abstract

The invention relates to a wire tie roller for producing a spoil of soft annealed wire capable of being used to tie a primary transmission wire to an insulator. The wire tie roller includes a mounting assemble, shaft mountable to the mounting assemble, and a housing assembly. The housing assembly is designed to form a cylinder and includes a roller bearing system. The housing assembly and roller bearing system are designed to allow the formed cylinder to rotate about the shaft when the mounted shaft is positioned in the cylinder. The housing assembly further includes an wire receiving aperture along the outer wall of the housing assembly near one end of the cylinder and when soft annealed wiring is inserted in the aperture the cylinder can be rotated about its center axis to produce a coil of soft annealed wiring.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A wire tie roller comprising:
a mounting assembly;
a shaft mountable to the mounting assemble; and
a housing assembly that includes a first base portion and a second base portion and a side wall portion surrounding and continuing the first base portion and second base portion to form a cylinder;
the first base portion includes a shaft aperture formed about a center axis of the first base portion for receiving the shaft and the second base portion includes coupled thereto a handle and a hinge with the handle being movable about an axis of the hinge 180 degrees;
the cylinder further includes a first roller bearing system and a second roller bearing system positioned along the inner wall of the sidewall portion of the cylinder, with each roller bearing system parallel and coaxially aligned to and in contact with the shaft and inner wall; and
the housing assembly further includes a wire tie aperture formed along the sidewall portion near the first base portion.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The wire tie roller of claim 1 wherein the shaft is coupled to the mounting assembly and extends a length from the mounting assembly through the aperture of the first base portion to a position within the cylinder short of the second base portion.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The wire tie roller of claim 1 wherein the first and second roller bearing system further includes an outer bearing ring with an inner raceway and an inner bearing ring with an outer raceway.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The wire tie roller of claim 3 wherein the first and second roller bearing system further includes cylinder rollers in contact with the shaft and inner sidewall portion for allowing the cylinder to rotate about the shaft by using the handle.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The wire tie roller of claim 1 wherein the second base portion includes an access aperture formed along the second base portion, which allows access to the roller bearing system.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The wire tie roller of claim 1 wherein tie aperture receives soft annealed wiring and when the handle is turned horizontally with the second base portion causes the soft annealed wire to rotate about the sidewall portion forming a coil of soft annealed wire.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The wire tie roller of claim 1 wherein the handle is positionable along the axis of the hinge allowing access to the inner cylinder.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The wire tie roller of claim 1 wherein the second base portion is completely detachable and re-attachable from the sidewall portion.
