## Abstract

A glass break sensor system is provided for a vehicle having an on-board diagnostic (“OBD”) data link cable and an OBD port. The system includes a modular unit having a microprocessor, a glass break sensor, and a pass-through OBD connector including an input connector configured to mate with the vehicle OB) data link cable and an output connector configured to mate with an input to the vehicle OBD port. The input connector includes a power input configured to be coupled to a vehicle battery voltage input of the 0131 data link cable and to provide power to the glass break sensor device.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The glass break sensor system of claim 1 further comprising an accelerometer configured to detect when the vehicle is in motion and generate a vehicle motion output signal; and
wherein the microprocessor is configured to determine whether the vehicle is in motion and to use the accelerometer vehicle motion output signal to determine whether an alarm signal generated by the sensor is a false positive.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The glass break sensor system of claim 1 wherein the microprocessor is further configured to:
communicate with a security system component that includes a GPS location component; and
in response to an alarm signal generated by the sensor, cause the GPS component to send a location alert.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The glass break sensor system of claim 1 wherein the microprocessor is further configured to:
communicate with a security system component that includes a vehicle on-board camera; and
in response to an alarm signal generated by the sensor, cause the camera to capture an image.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The glass break sensor system of claim 1 wherein the microprocessor is further configured to determine whether the vehicle engine is on or off based on the vehicle battery voltage input.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The glass break sensor system of claim 1 wherein the microprocessor is further configured to determine whether the vehicle engine is off based on the vehicle battery voltage input.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The glass break sensor system of claim 1 wherein the microprocessor is further configured to determine whether the vehicle engine is on based on the vehicle battery voltage input.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The glass break sensor system of claim 1 wherein the microprocessor is further configured to determine whether the engine is in a start-up condition based on the vehicle battery voltage input.

### Claim 9

A glass break sensor system for a vehicle having an on-board diagnostic (“OBD”) data link cable and an OBD port, the device comprising:
a modular unit including:
a pass-through OBD connector including an input connector configured to mate with the vehicle OBD data link cable and an output connector configured to mate with the vehicle OBD port;
a microprocessor;
a glass break sensor configured to detect a glass breakage event and generate an alarm signal when glass breakage is detected; and
an audio alarm;
wherein the input connector includes a power input configured to be coupled to a vehicle battery voltage input of the OBD data link cable and to provide power to the glass break sensor system; and
wherein the microprocessor is configured to:
use the vehicle battery voltage input of the OBD connector to automatically arm the glass break sensor system when the vehicle engine is turned off and disarm the glass break sensor system when the vehicle engine is on; and
cause the audio alarm to sound when the glass break sensor generates an alarm signal.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The glass break sensor system of claim 9 further comprising an accelerometer configured to detect when the vehicle is in motion and generate a vehicle motion output signal; and
wherein the microprocessor is configured to determine whether the vehicle is in motion and to use the accelerometer vehicle motion output signal to determine whether an alarm signal generated by the sensor is a false positive.

### Claim 11 (depends on 9)

The glass break sensor system of claim 9 wherein the microprocessor is further configured to:
communicate with a security system component that includes a GPS location component; and
in response to an alarm signal generated by the sensor, cause the GPS component to send a location alert.
