## Abstract

A vehicle includes an engine, motor, transmission, and electronically controlled one-way clutch. The engine includes an output. The motor includes a rotor and a stator. The transmission includes an input that is rotatably coupled to the rotor. The transmission is configured to receive power from the engine and the motor. The electronically controlled one-way clutch has an inner race that is secured to the output of the engine and an outer race that is secured to the rotor. The electronically controlled one-way clutch is configured to rotatably couple the output to the rotor.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A vehicle comprising:
an engine having an output;
a motor having a rotor and a stator;
a transmission having an input rotatably coupled to the rotor and configured to receive power from the engine and motor; and
an electronically controlled one-way clutch having an inner race that is secured to the output and an outer race that is secured to rotor.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The vehicle of claim 1, wherein the electronically controlled one-way clutch includes a first set of rockers secured to the inner race that are configured to engage a first set of notches in the outer race to rotatably couple the output to the rotor in a first direction of rotation.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The vehicle of claim 2, wherein the electronically controlled one-way clutch includes a first coil that energizes and de-energizes to transition the first set of rockers between a first extended position to engage the first set of notches and a first retracted position to disengage the first set of notches.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The vehicle of claim 3, wherein the electronically controlled one-way clutch includes a second set of rockers secured to the inner race that are configured to engage a second set of notches in the outer race to rotatably couple the output to the rotor in a second direction of rotation opposite of the first direction of rotation.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The vehicle of claim 4, wherein the electronically controlled one-way clutch includes a second coil that energizes and de-energizes to transition the second set of rockers between a second extended position to engage the second set of notches and a second retracted position to disengage the second set of notches.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The vehicle of claim 1, further comprising a case disposed between the engine and the transmission that houses the motor and fluidly isolates the rotor from the transmission.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The vehicle of claim 6, further comprising channels in fluid communication with the stator and the transmission, wherein the channels are configured to direct transmission fluid to the stator to cool stator coils.

### Claim 8

A powertrain module comprising:
a housing;
an input shaft extending from the housing and configured to rotabably couple to an engine output;
an output shaft extending from the housing and configured to rotatably couple to a transmission input;
a motor having a stator secured to an inner surface of the housing and a rotor secured to the output shaft; and
an electronically controlled one-way clutch having an inner race that is secured to the input shaft and an outer race that is secured to the rotor.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The powertrain module of claim 8, wherein the electronically controlled one-way clutch includes a first set of rockers secured to the inner race that are configured to engage a first set of notches in the outer race to rotatably couple the input shaft to the rotor in a first direction of rotation.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The powertrain module of claim 9, wherein the electronically controlled one-way clutch includes a first coil that energizes and de-energizes to transition the first set of rockers between a first extended position to engage the first set of notches and a first retracted position to disengage the first set of notches.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The powertrain module of claim 10, wherein the electronically controlled one-way clutch includes a second set of rockers secured to the inner race that are configured to engage a second set of notches in the outer race to rotatably couple the input shaft to the rotor in a second direction of rotation opposite of the first direction of rotation.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The powertrain module of claim 11, wherein the electronically controlled one-way clutch includes a second coil that energizes and de-energizes to transition the second set of rockers between a second extended position to engage the second set of notches and a second retracted position to disengage the second set of notches.
