Abstract
Managing memory of a computing environment. A determination is made as to whether a block of memory is being used to back an address translation structure used by a guest program. The block of memory is a block of host memory, and the guest program is managed by a virtual machine manager that further manages the host memory. A memory management action is performed based on whether the block of memory is being used to back the address translation structure.
Claims20
A computer program product for facilitating memory management of a computing environment, said computer program product comprising:
- a computer readable storage medium readable by a processing circuit and storing instructions for execution by the processing circuit for performing a method comprising:
- determining whether a block of memory is being used to back an address translation structure used by a guest program, the block of memory being a block of host memory, and wherein the guest program is managed by a virtual machine manager that further manages the host memory;
- and
- performing a memory management action based on whether the block of memory is being used to back the address translation structure.
A computer system for facilitating memory management of a computing environment, said computer system comprising:
- a memory;
- and
- a processor in communication with the memory, wherein the computer system is configured to perform a method, said method comprising:
- determining whether a block of memory is being used to back an address translation structure used by a guest program, the block of memory being a block of host memory, and wherein the guest program is managed by a virtual machine manager that further manages the host memory;
- and
- performing a memory management action based on whether the block of memory is being used to back the address translation structure.
A computer-implemented method of facilitating memory management of a computing environment, said computer-implemented method comprising:
- determining, by a processor, whether a block of memory is being used to back an address translation structure used by a guest program, the block of memory being a block of host memory, and wherein the guest program is managed by a virtual machine manager that further manages the host memory;
- and
- performing a memory management action based on whether the block of memory is being used to back the address translation structure.
