Abstract
An evaluation device for an elevator system includes a self-propelled drive unit including a motor secondary to travel along a motor primary in a hoistway, and at least one diagnostic sensor.

An evaluation device comprising:
- a self-propelled drive unit including a motor secondary to travel along a motor primary in a hoistway;
- and
- at least one diagnostic sensor.
A method to evaluate an elevator system comprising:
- providing an evaluation device to a hoistway, wherein the hoistway includes a motor primary;
- travelling along the motor primary via a self-propelled drive unit of the evaluation device, wherein the self-propelled drive unit includes a motor secondary;
- and
- sensing a plurality of parameters via at least one diagnostic sensor.
