Sheet conveying apparatus

A sheet conveying apparatus for conveying placed sheets one by one, comprising:

• a conveying unit capable of being in a first posture and in a second posture, the second posture is a posture by rotating from the first posture, and of conveying a sheet while being in any one of the first posture and the second posture;
• a driving source provided apart from the conveying unit;
• and
• a gear train configured to transmit driving force from the driving source to rotate a roller included in the conveying unit,
• wherein the gear train includes
• an intermediate gear including a rotation shaft coinciding with a rotational center of the conveying unit, and
• a planetary gear configured to mesh with the intermediate gear, and
• the planetary gear turns around the intermediate gear with rotation of the conveying unit from the first posture toward the second posture.

A sheet conveying apparatus comprising:

• a first placement unit on which to place sheet documents;
• a conveying unit configured to convey the documents placed on the first placement unit one by one;
• and
• an indicator configured to indicate an instruction to place a document with a front side up or a back side up on the first placement unit,
• wherein the indicator is provided at a position not hidden by a document placed on the first placement unit.

A sheet conveying apparatus comprising a side guide mechanism configured to restrict a position of a placed sheet in a sheet width direction, wherein

• the side guide mechanism includes
• a tray on which to place a sheet,
• a restricting part configured to restrict the position of the sheet placed on the tray by abutting side edges of the sheet,
• a guide base provided to cover the sheet on the tray from above, and configured to hold the restricting part such that the restricting part extends downward, and
• a moving mechanism configured to make the guide base and the restricting part movable in the sheet width direction, and
• the guide base includes an operation portion on which a user places a finger to slide the guide base in the sheet width direction.
