A bicycle component is provided with a base including a recess, a cover, a protected member that is at least partially arranged in the recess, and an engagement portion. The cover is configured to close the recess. The protected member is at least partially arranged in the recess. The engagement portion is configured separately from the cover and the protected member. The engagement portion is arranged in the recess and engages the cover that covers the recess.

A bicycle component comprising:
- a base including a recess;
- a cover selectively covering the recess;
- a protected member that is at least partially arranged in the recess;
- and
- an engagement portion being configured separately from the cover and the protected member, the engagement portion being provided in the recess and engaging the cover that covers the recess.
