Method for applying a seal to a plate

Method for applying a joint (2, 102) onto a plate (3), in particular a plate having shape defects, the method comprising the following steps:

• providing a tool (4, 104) comprising at least a supporting element made of solid material (5, 105) and a supporting element made of flexible material (6, 106),
• defining an edge of interest on a portion of the plate (3) on which the joint (2, 102) is intended to be applied,
• placing the plate (3) on the tool (4, 104) in such a way that the edge of interest rests at least on a portion of the supporting element made of flexible material (6, 106),
• maintaining the plate on the tool (4, 104) in a predetermined reference position,
• applying said joint (2, 102) onto the edge of interest,
• removing the plate (3) and its applied joint (2, 102) from the tool (4, 104),
• characterised in that
• a pressure is exerted, during the application of the joint (2, 102), and perpendicularly to an outer surface of the element made of flexible material (6, 106), the outer surface being opposite to the surface on which the edge of interest rests in such a way that the element made of flexible material (6, 106) is pressed against the plate (3).
