Abstract
An exercise device of the type including a frame with a first crank assembly rotatably coupled to the frame about a first axis and a second crank assembly rotatably coupled to the frame about a second axis. A control system may be used in communication with the first crank assembly and the second crank assembly, which may provide a synchronous movement of the first crank assembly relative to the second crank assembly. A pedal arm may be provided with a first end pivotally coupled to the first crank assembly and a pedal positioned on a second end. A crank link may be used with one end coupled to the second crank assembly and a second end coupled to the pedal arm. The crank link may be movable on the pedal arm which may provide varying paths of motion of the pedals.
Claims20
An exercise device comprising:
- a frame;
- a first crank assembly rotateably coupled to the frame about a first axis and a second crank assembly rotateably coupled to the frame about a second axis, the first crank assembly and the second crank assembly each providing a first crank arm and a second crank arm displaced from each other such that a user may be positioned there between;
- a control system in communication with the first crank assembly and the second crank assembly, the control system providing a synchronous movement of the first crank assembly relative to the second crank assembly;
- a pedal arm with a first end pivotally coupled to the first crank assembly and a pedal positioned on a second end of the pedal arm, and
- a crank link with one end coupled to the second crank assembly and a second end coupled to the pedal arm.
An exercise device comprising:
- a frame;
- a first drive coupled to the frame and including a first crank arm rotateably coupled to a drive frame, a second crank arm rotateably coupled to the drive frame and a control system providing the first crank arm is in synchronous movement with the second crank arm;
- a second drive coupled to the frame and including a third crank arm rotateably coupled to a drive frame, a fourth crank arm rotateably coupled to the drive frame and a control system providing the third crank arm is in synchronous movement with the fourth crank arm, the second drive being displaced from the first drive such that a user can be positioned between the first drive and the second drive;
- a drive shaft rotateably connected to the first drive and the second drive and providing mechanical communication between the first crank arm and the third crank arm;
- a first pedal arm including a pedal, the first pedal arm coupled to the first drive and a second pedal arm including a pedal, the second pedal arm coupled to the second drive;
- and
- a first crank link coupled to the first pedal arm and the first drive and a second crank link coupled to the second pedal arm and the second drive.
