Claims19
A method of treating a pervasive development disorder in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising:
- administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of a subanesthetic dose of an NMDAR antagonist, wherein the NMDAR antagonist is administered to the subject in accordance with an intermittent dosing regimen, the intermittent dosing regimen including administering the subanesthetic dose of the NMDAR antagonist at an initial dosing interval for a period of time effective to alleviate at least one symptom associated with the pervasive development disorder, then withholding dosing for a period of time, and then resuming administration of the subanesthetic dose of the NMDAR antagonist at a dosing interval for a period of time upon recurrence of the at least one symptom, and wherein the dosing regimen is repeated until at least one symptom of the pervasive development disorder is alleviated or the underlying substrate or pathology of the disorder is altered such that relief or alleviation of the symptom is sustained.
A method of treating Rett syndrome (RTT) in a subject, the method comprising administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of a subanesthetic dose of an NMDAR antagonist, wherein the NMDAR antagonist is administered to the subject in accordance with an intermittent dosing regimen, the intermittent dosing regimen including administering the subanesthetic dose of the NMDAR antagonist at an initial dosing interval for a period of time effective to alleviate at least one symptom associated with the pervasive development disorder, then withholding dosing for a period of time once the at least one symptom has been at least partially or substantially alleviated, and then resuming administration of the subanesthetic dose of the NMDAR antagonist at a dosing interval for a period of time upon recurrence of the at least one symptom, and wherein the dosing regimen is repeated until at least one symptom of the pervasive development disorder is alleviated or the underlying substrate or pathology of the disorder is altered such that relief or alleviation of the symptom is sustained.
