Abstract
A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may select a first type of buffer status information or a second type of buffer status information. The first type of buffer status information may indicate an amount of data buffered and the second type of buffer status information has less bits and is a different format than the first type of buffer status information. The WTRU may select, subsequent to a number of subframes of a transmission of buffer status information of a first type, buffer status information of the first type for transmission.
Claims17
A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising:
- a transmitter configured to transmit, on a condition that the WTRU does not have a scheduling grant, a scheduling request over an uplink control channel;
- a processor configured, on a condition that the WTRU does have a scheduling grant, to select a first type of buffer status information or a second type of buffer status information, wherein the first type of buffer status information indicates an amount of data buffered and the second type of buffer status information has less bits and is a different format than the first type of buffer status information;
- the transmitter is further configured to transmit, over an uplink shared channel with buffered data, the selected first or the selected second type of buffer status information;
- and
- the processor configured, on a condition that a predetermined number of subframes subsequent to a transmission of buffer status information of a first type of has occurred, to select buffer status information of the first type for transmission.
A method wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising:
- transmitting, by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) on a condition that the WTRU does not have a scheduling grant, a scheduling request over an uplink control channel;
- selecting, by the WTRU on a condition that the WTRU does have a scheduling grant, a first type of buffer status information or a second type of buffer status information, wherein the first type of buffer status information indicates an amount of data buffered and the second type of buffer status information has less bits and is a different format than the first type of buffer status information;
- transmitting, by the WTRU over an uplink shared channel with buffered data, the selected first or the selected second type of buffer status information;
- and
- selecting, by the WTRU on a condition that a predetermined number of subframes subsequent to a transmission of buffer status information of a first type of has occurred, buffer status information of the first type for transmission.
A base station comprising:
- a receiver configured to receive, on a condition that a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) does not have a scheduling grant, a scheduling request over an uplink control channel;
- and
- a processor configured, on a condition that the WTRU does have a scheduling grant, to receive a first type or a second type of buffer status information over an uplink shared channel with buffered data, wherein the first type of buffer status information indicates an amount of data buffered and the second type of buffer status information has less bits and is a different format than the first type of buffer status information;
- and
- the processor further configured, on a condition that a predetermined number of subframes subsequent to reception of buffer status information of a first type has occurred, to receive buffer status information of the first type.
