Video thumbnail in electronic program guide

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having embodied thereon a program, the program being executable by a processor to perform a method for providing video thumbnails, the method comprising:

• displaying a first user view of a video content at a user device, the video content being provided to the user device from a first source;
• receiving user input at the user device, wherein the user input includes a user request for additional information from a second source to be displayed at the user device, wherein the additional information from the second source includes an electronic program guide;
• generating a user interface to display the additional information from the second source for the user to view, the user interface including a designated area for a display of the video content that the user can view during user interactions with the additional information;
• formatting video content from the first source to be displayed within the designated area;
• and
• displaying the generated user interface on the user device for the user to view, the generated user interface overlaying the first user view of the video content from the first source, wherein user interaction with the generated user interface is allowed while the formatted video content within the designated area is displayed for the user to view, and wherein display of the first user view of the video content resumes once the user exits the generated user interface.
