Distributed Implementation Architecture for Broadcast Receiver

A method for distribution of broadcast content, comprising:

• receiving, by a processor of a personal device, packets sent from a gateway over a local network via a router/switch;
• obtaining, by the processor, time source information from the gateway;
• decoding, in the processor, the packets to reconstitute broadcast content included in the packets;
• and
• providing, by the processor, the broadcast content to a Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) proxy executing within the processor of the personal device for output by a media player according to the time source information.

A gateway, comprising:

• a processor configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations comprising:
• receiving User Datagram Protocol (UDP) packets containing broadcast content;
• obtaining time source information while receiving the UDP packets;
• establishing a local replica of the time source information;
• sending the UDP packets to a personal device over a local network via a router/switch;
• and
• providing the time source information from to the personal device.

A method for distribution of broadcast content from a gateway to one or more personal devices, comprising:

• receiving User Datagram Protocol (UDP) packets containing broadcast content at a processor of a gateway;
• obtaining, by the processor of the gateway, time source information while receiving the UDP packets;
• establishing a local replica of the time source information in the processor of the gateway;
• sending the UDP packets from the processor of the gateway to a personal device over a local network via a router/switch;
• and
• providing the time source information from the processor of the gateway to the personal device.
