An image processing apparatus (120) that generates a virtual light source image of an object, includes a generator (103a) that generates the virtual light source image based on light source information and normal information of the object and a determiner (103b) that determines noise reduction information to be used for noise reduction processing based on the normal information.

An image processing apparatus that generates a virtual light source image of an object, comprising:
- a generator configured to generate the virtual light source image based on light source information and normal information of the object;
- and
- a determiner configured to determine noise reduction information to be used for noise reduction processing based on the normal information.
An image capturing apparatus that generates a virtual light source image of an object, comprising:
- an image capturer configured to photoelectrically convert an optical image formed via an image capturing optical system;
- a generator configured to generate the virtual light source image based on light source information and normal information of the object that are acquired from the image capturer;
- and
- a determiner configured to determine noise reduction information to be used for noise reduction processing based on the normal information.
An image processing method of generating a virtual light source image of an object, the method comprising the steps of:
- generating the virtual light source image based on light source information and normal information of the object;
- and
- determining noise reduction information to be used for noise reduction processing based on the normal information.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing an image processing program which causes a computer to execute a process comprising the steps of:
- generating the virtual light source image based on light source information and normal information of the object;
- and
- determining noise reduction information to be used for noise reduction processing based on the normal information.
