Abstract
In one embodiment, a mobile network includes at least one Information Centric Networking (ICN) enabled mobile base station configured to support ICN transport protocol, and at least one ICN enabled evolved packet core (EPC) device configured to support ICN transport protocol, where the ICN enabled EPC device is operative to assign an ICN based identity to a user equipment (UE) according to an attach request, wherein the attach request indicates that the UE supports the ICN transport protocol.
Claims20
A method for improving content delivery, the method performed on a mobile base station and comprising:
- configuring said mobile base station to support Information Centric Networking (ICN) transport protocol;
- and
- storing content for delivery over said ICN transport protocol in an ICN content cathe on said mobile base station.
A method for supporting Information Centric Networking (ICN) on a long term evolution (LTE evolved packet core (EPC) device and comprising:
- receiving an initial attach request from a user equipment (UE), wherein said initial attach request includes an indication of support for ICN transport protocol on said UE;
- authenticating said UE;
- and
- creating a session for said UE, wherein a Packet Data Network (PDN) type is assigned for said session is ICN.
A mobile network comprising:
- at least one Information Centric Networking (ICN) enabled mobile base station configured to support ICN transport protocol;
- and
- at least one ICN enabled evolved packet core (EPC) device configured to support ICN transport protocol, wherein said ICN enabled EPC device is operative to assign an ICN based identity to a user equipment (UE) according to an attach request, wherein said attach request indicates that said UE supports said ICN transport protocol.
