Abstract
According to the present invention, there are provided pyrimidine derivatives represented by the following general formula (1). The pyrimidine derivatives of the invention are novel compounds and feature (1) good electron injection property, (2) high electron mobility, (3) excellent hole blocking property, (4) good stability in their form of thin films, and (5) excellent heat resistance.

Pyrimidine derivatives represented by the following general formula (1),
- wherein,
- Ar1 and Ar2 are, respectively, aromatic hydrocarbon groups or condensed polycyclic aromatic groups,
- Ar3 is a hydrogen atom, an aromatic hydrocarbon group or a condensed polycyclic aromatic group,
- A1 and A2 are, respectively, divalent aromatic hydrocarbon groups or divalent condensed polycyclic aromatic groups,
- A3 is a divalent aromatic hydrocarbon group, a divalent condensed polycyclic aromatic group, or a single bond, and
- B is an aromatic heterocyclic group.
