Abstract

Systems and methods for providing interactive content for display in low-bandwidth communication environments are provided. A system can receive request for a web page including primary content. The system can determine that the end user computing device is communicating with the data processing system via a network connection corresponding to a bandwidth below a predetermined threshold. The system can, responsive to determining that the network connection corresponds to a bandwidth below the predetermined threshold, provide the web page including the primary video content and web page code invoking a low bandwidth advertisement rendering script responsive to the request for the web page. The low bandwidth advertisement rendering script can be configured to cause the client device to receive an ad rendering application and an ad content package, and then render an interactive ad corresponding to the ad content package.

Dependent claims

A system of providing interactive content for display, comprising a client device having one or more processors to:

receive, by the client device, at least a portion of a first video content item;
transmit, by a content rendering application executed by the client device, a first request for content responsive to receiving an amount of the first video content greater than a first predetermined threshold;
receive a content package configured to be processed by the content rendering application responsive to the first request, the content package including elements used by the content rendering application to render interactive content;
identify a triggering event to display content of the content package;
and
display, by the content rendering application, the interactive content of the content package responsive to identifying the triggering event.

transmitting, by a content rendering application executing on the client device and responsive to receiving an amount of the first video content greater than a first predetermined threshold, a first request for content;
