Abstract
Computing systems and related methods are provided for performing database actions responsive to input gestures made by a user. One exemplary method involves a server identifying a gesture on a graphical user interface display on a client device, identifying a subset of displayed content on the graphical user interface display corresponding to the gesture, determining a database action based on at least one of characteristics associated with the gesture and the gestured content, performing the database action with respect to an object in a database, and updating the gestured content on the graphical user interface display to reflect performance of the database action.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- identifying a gesture on a graphical user interface display on a client device;
- identifying a subset of displayed content on the graphical user interface display corresponding to the gesture, resulting in gestured content;
- determining, by a server, a database action based on at least one of characteristics associated with the gesture and the gestured content;
- performing, by the server, the database action with respect to an object in a database;
- and
- updating, by the server, the gestured content on the graphical user interface display to reflect the performing of the database action.
A system comprising:
- a database to store one or more gesture rules;
- and
- an application server coupled to the database and a network to provide an instance of a virtual application to a client device via the network, receive an input gesture associated with the instance of the virtual application from the client device, identify displayed content associated with the instance of the virtual application corresponding to the input gesture, determine a database action based on the one or more gesture rules and at least one of characteristics associated with the input gesture and the displayed content, and perform the database action with respect to an object in the database in a manner that is influenced by the displayed content.
A method of performing database actions in response to an input gesture associated with a graphical user interface display on a client device, the method comprising:
- identifying a gestured portion of textual information presented on the graphical user interface display corresponding to the input gesture;
- determining, by an application server providing the graphical user interface display on the client device via a network, a database action to be performed based on characteristics of the input gesture;
- performing, by the application server, the database action with respect to an object in a database in a manner that is influenced by the gestured portion of textual information;
- and
- updating, by the application server, the gestured portion of textual information on the graphical user interface display to reflect the performing of the database action.
