Abstract
A method and an apparatus for entering text in a portable terminal are provided. The method includes focusing on a selected text field and displaying a SIP, when the predefined text field is selected from among text fields, scroll-displaying the text fields in a display area in response to a requested scroll, when a user requests the scroll of the display area of the text fields, and identifying, from a result of the scroll display, whether the selected text field is being displayed in the display area, and determining whether text is to be entered into the selected text field.
Claims20
A portable communication device comprising:
- a memory configured to store a specified application;
- a touchscreen display;
- and
- a controller configured to:
- execute the specified application, the executing including displaying, via the touchscreen display, a text input field as at least partially filled with text information associated with the specified application,
- display, via the touchscreen display, a virtual keyboard including a plurality of keys concurrently with the text input field in response to a first user input received with respect to the text input field at least partially filled with the text information,
- receive a second user input that causes a first portion of the text input field to be hidden from the touchscreen display, and a second portion of the text input field to remain in the touchscreen display, and
- display an entirety of the text input field concurrently with the virtual keyboard in response to the second user input being released.
A portable communication device comprising:
- a memory configured to store a specified application;
- a touchscreen display;
- and
- a controller configured to:
- execute the specified application, the executing including displaying, via the touchscreen display, a text input field to be used to display at least part of text information stored in the memory, and a menu to be used to add another text information to be used by the specified application,
- display, via the touchscreen display, a virtual keyboard including a plurality of keys concurrently with the text input field in response to a first user input received with respect to the text input field, and
- hide the virtual keyboard from the touchscreen display in response to a second user input received with respect to the menu.
A machine-readable storage device storing instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
- executing, at an portable communication device including a memory, the memory configured to store a specified application, and a touchscreen display, the specified application, the executing including displaying, via the touchscreen display, a text input field as at least partially filled with text information associated with the specified application;
- displaying, via the touchscreen display, a virtual keyboard including a plurality of keys concurrently with the text input field in response to a first user input received with respect to the text input field at least partially filled with the text information;
- receiving, at the portable communication device, a second user input that causes a first portion of the text input field to be hidden from the touchscreen display, and a second portion of the text input field to remain in the touchscreen display;
- and
- displaying, at the portable communication device, an entirety of the text input field concurrently with the virtual keyboard in response to the second user input being released.
