Lighting fixture mounting systems

A method for mounting a lighting fixture relative to a support surface, the method comprising:

• securing a mounting portion relative to a support surface, wherein the mounting portion comprises one or more mounting catches;
• pivoting a lighting fixture secured relative to the mounting portion from a first position to a second position at least substantially parallel to the support surface, wherein the lighting fixture comprises one or more fixture catches;
• and
• sliding the lighting fixture relative to the mounting portion from the second position to a third position in which the one or more fixture catches are engaged with the one or more mounting catches.

A lighting fixture mounting kit for mounting a flat panel lighting fixture to a support surface, the lighting fixture mounting kit comprising:

• a mounting plate comprising:
• a plate portion configured to be secured relative to a support surface;
• and
• one or more mounting catches configured to engage one or more fixture catches of a lighting fixture;
• and
• one or more mounting points configured to movably engage one or more mounting arms;
• one or more mounting arms each comprising:
• a slide slot configured to slidably and pivotably engage the one or more mounting points;
• and
• an arm pivot point configured to pivotably engage one or more lighting fixture pivot points;
• and
• a lighting fixture comprising:
• a back portion comprising:
• one or more lighting fixture pivot points configured to pivotably engage the arm pivot point;
• and
• one or more fixture catches configured to selectively engage the one or more mounting catches of the mounting plate.
