Airbag cover weakening patterns and related systems and methods

A method for manufacturing an airbag cushion cover, the method comprising the steps of:

• obtaining a first layer of an airbag cushion cover;
• forming a first weakened pattern in the first layer such that the first weakened pattern facilitates separation of the first layer to allow for deployment of an airbag cushion therethrough,
• wherein the first weakened pattern comprises a first shape;
• and
• forming a second weakened pattern in the first layer such that the second weakened pattern further facilitates separation of the first layer to allow for deployment of an airbag cushion therethrough,
• wherein the second weakened pattern comprises a second shape, wherein the second shape is at least substantially identical to the first shape, and wherein the first shape intersects the second shape.

A method for manufacturing an airbag cushion cover, the method comprising the steps of:

• forming a first tear seam in a first layer of an airbag cushion cover such that the first tear seam facilitates separation of the first layer to allow for deployment of an airbag cushion therethrough;
• forming a second tear seam in the first layer such that the second tear seam further facilitates separation of the first layer to allow for deployment of an airbag cushion therethrough, wherein the first tear seam overlaps with the second tear seam, and wherein the first tear seam defines a shape symmetrical with respect to a shape defined by the second tear seam;
• coupling a second layer of the airbag cushion cover to the first layer;
• and
• forming a third tear seam in the second layer, wherein the third tear seam extends in between opposing ends of a profile defined by the first tear seam and the second tear seam such that the first and second tear seams extend back and forth across the third tear seam.
