Monument fixtures

A monument for a vehicle, comprising:

• a first wall (102);
• and
• a wall guard, comprising:
• a retaining rail (602) that comprises a first lengthwise edge (662) and an opposing second lengthwise edge (660), wherein the retaining rail (602) includes:
• a flat side (664) between the first and second lengthwise edges (662 and 660) configured to abut a wall surface (102);
• and
• an opposing side (666), wherein the retaining rail includes at least two fastener holes (604) between the flat side (664) and the opposing side (666) configured to receive fasteners (606), wherein the first lengthwise edge (662) includes a first outward-facing retention lip (672), and wherein the second lengthwise edge (660) includes a second outward-facing retention lip (670);
• fasteners (606) extending through the respective at least two fastener holes (604) and affixed in the wall (102) attaching the retaining rail (602) to the wall (102);
• a rub strip (700) that comprises a resilient body (702) that includes a third lengthwise edge (706) and an opposing fourth lengthwise edge (704), wherein the third lengthwise edge (706) includes a first inward-facing retention tab (710), and the fourth lengthwise edge (704) includes a second inward-facing retention tab (708), wherein the resilient body (702) is temporarily deformable from a relaxed state to align the first and second inward-facing retention tabs (710 and 708) with the first and second outward-facing retention lips (672 and 670), respectively, and returns to the relaxed state such that the first and second inward-facing retention tabs (710 and 708) engage the first and second outward-facing retention lips (672 and 670), respectively, wherein the first inward-facing retention tab (710) is configured to engage the first retention lip (672) and the second inward-facing tab (708) is configured to engage the second retention lip (670) when the resilient body (702) is in the relaxed state, and wherein an exterior surface of the resilient body (702) defines a profile;
• and
• a first end cap (610) arranged at a first end of the resilient body (702), wherein the first end cap (610) includes an exterior profile that matches the profile defined by the resilient body (702), and wherein the first end cap (610) covers the first end of the resilient body (702) and an end of the retaining rail (602).

A vehicle, comprising:

• a passenger compartment that includes a floor (112);
• a monument (100) arranged in the passenger compartment, wherein the monument (100) comprises a first wall (102), and wherein a bottom end of the first wall (102) abuts the floor (112);
• and
• a wall guard (600) arranged on the monument (100), the wall guard comprising:
• a retaining rail (602) that comprises a first lengthwise edge (662) and an opposing second lengthwise edge (660), wherein the retaining rail (602) includes:
• a flat side (664) between the first and second lengthwise edges (662 and 660) configured to abut a wall surface (102);
• and
• an opposing side (666), wherein the retaining rail includes at least two fastener holes (604) between the flat side (664) and the opposing side (666) configured to receive fasteners (606), wherein the first lengthwise edge (662) includes a first outward-facing retention lip (672), and wherein the second lengthwise edge (660) includes a second outward-facing retention lip (670);
• fasteners (606) extending through the respective at least two fastener holes (604) and affixed in the wall (102) attaching the retaining rail (602) to the wall (102);
• a rub strip (700) that comprises a resilient body (702) that includes a third lengthwise edge (706) and an opposing fourth lengthwise edge (704), wherein the third lengthwise edge (706) includes a first inward-facing retention tab (710), and the fourth lengthwise edge (704) includes a second inward-facing retention tab (708), wherein the resilient body (702) is temporarily deformable from a relaxed state to align the first and second inward-facing retention tabs (710 and 708) with the first and second outward-facing retention lips (672 and 670), respectively, and returns to the relaxed state such that the first and second inward-facing retention tabs (710 and 708) engage the first and second outward-facing retention lips (672 and 670), respectively, wherein the first inward-facing retention tab (710) is configured to engage the first retention lip (672) and the second inward-facing tab (708) is configured to engage the second retention lip (670) when the resilient body (702) is in the relaxed state, and wherein an exterior surface of the resilient body (702) defines a profile;
• and
• a first end cap (610) arranged at a first end of the resilient body (702), wherein the first end cap (610) includes an exterior profile that matches the profile defined by the resilient body (702), and wherein the first end cap (610) covers the first end of the resilient body (702) and an end of the retaining rail (602).
