Abstract
A hand cover apparatus with a tensioning mechanism that tensions a portion of the apparatus such that it is urged to retract to an open position, freeing a portion of the user's hand. Said system has one stationary piece and at least one additional piece that moves relative to it and can be triggered to free the hand by using only the hand to which it is mounted.

A hand cover apparatus comprising:
- a stationary hand cover portion, configured to cover the back and palm side of a user's hand;
- a catch or locking mechanism on said hand cover;
- a hinge or fold on said stationary hand cover portion;
- a retracting hand cover portion connected to said hinge;
- and
- a tensioning mechanism coupled to said stationary hand cover portion and said retracting hand cover portion,
- whereby said catch or locking mechanism holds said retracting hand cover portion in a closed position, and tension of said tensioning mechanism retracts said retracting hand cover portion.

A hand cover apparatus comprising:
- a forearm mount or sleeve configured for securement about the wrist, hand, or forearm of a user;
- a retracting hand cover portion connected to said forearm mount made of hard or soft material which moves forward and backward on said forearm mount;
- a finger pocket, harness, or raised lip connected to said retracting hand cover portion, configured to engage at least one finger of the user's hand for urging said retracting hand cover portion forward or backward on said forearm mount;
- and
- said finger pocket, harness, or lip allows a user to insert and remove fingers during use by using only the hand it's worn on;
- and
- where said finger pocket or harness is located on said retracting hand cover portion between the palm and mid finger region of the user's hand, where it is accessible to the user's fingertips on the hand it is worn on when in rear most position;
- and
- where said finger pocket on said retracting hand cover portion is positioned at or close to the ends of the user's fully extended fingertips when in forward position on said forearm mount covering the palm side of a user's hand.

A hand cover apparatus comprising:
- a forearm mount or sleeve configured for securement about the forearm, wrist, or hand of a user;
- a retracting hand cover portion made of hard or soft material that is connected to said forearm mount such that said retracting hand cover portion can fold down on itself away from the user's hand to free the user's fingers;
- a finger pocket, harness, or lip connected to said retracting hand cover portion;
- configured to engage at least one finger of the user such that extension of the finger urges said retracting hand cover portion to fold out into an opened position covering the user's hand;

- said finger pocket, harness, or lip allows a user to insert and remove fingers during use by using only the hand it is worn on;
- and
- where said finger pocket, harness, or lip is located on said retracting hand cover portion between the user's palm and the middle of their fingers, where it is accessible to the user's fingertips on the hand it is worn on when in collapsed position;
- and where said finger pocket on said retracting hand cover portion is positioned at or close to the ends of the user's fully extended fingertips when in forward position on said forearm mount covering the palm side of a user's hand.
