Abstract
In methods for treating a patient, a time varying magnetic field is applied to a patient's body and causes a muscle contraction. The time-varying magnetic field may be monophasic, biphasic, polyphasic and/or static. The method may reduce adipose tissue, improve metabolism, blood and/or lymph circulation. The method may use combinations of treatments to enhance the visual appearance of the patient.

A method for reducing adipose cells, cellulite, causing circumferential reduction or changing BMI of a patient using a device which generates a time-varying magnetic field applied to a patient's body, wherein the device includes a connection to an energy source, a switching device, an energy storage device and a magnetic field generating device, comprising:
- a. positioning the magnetic field generating device with respect to the patient;
- and
- b. charging the energy storage device;
- and
- c. discharging energy from the energy storage device to the magnetic field generating device in order to generate the magnetic field;
- and
- d. applying the time-varying magnetic field with a magnetic flux density over 0.1 and up to 7 T, with a repetition rate in a range of 1 to 700 Hz and with an impulse duration in a range of 3 to 10000 μs to at least one body region including thighs, saddlebags, buttocks, abdomen, hips, love handles, torso and/or arms of the patient in order to cause a muscle contraction in a treated body region.

- a. charging the energy storage device;
- and
- b. discharging energy from the energy storage device to the magnetic field generating device in order to generate the magnetic field;
- and
- c. applying the time-varying magnetic field with a magnetic flux density in a range of 0.5 and up to 7 T, with a repetition rate in a range of 1 to 700 Hz, with an impulse duration in a range of 3 to 10000 μs and with a magnetic flux derivative in a range of 300 T/s to 60 kT/s to at least one body region including thighs, saddlebags, buttocks, abdomen, hips, love handles, torso and/or arms of the patient in order to cause a muscle contraction in a treated body region.

A method for reducing adipose cells, cellulite, causing circumferential reduction or changing BMI of a patient using a device which generates a time-varying magnetic field applied to a patient's body, wherein the device includes a connection to an energy source, a switching device, an energy storage device and a magnetic field generating device within an applicator, comprising:
- a. positioning a positioning member in a contact with the patient;
- and
- b. adjusting a length of the positioning member;
- and
- c. fixing the applicator in contact with the patient by the positioning member to a particular static position;
- and
- d. providing energy from the energy storage device to the magnetic field generating device in order to generate the magnetic field;
- and
- e. applying the time-varying magnetic field with a magnetic flux density in a range of 0.5 and up to 7 T, with a repetition rate in a range of 1 to 700 Hz, with an impulse duration in a range of 3 to 10000 μs and with a magnetic flux derivative in a range of 500 T/s to 150 kT/s to at least one body region including thighs, saddlebags, buttocks, abdomen, hips, love handles, torso and/or arms of the patient.
