Abstract
The present invention provides compositions and methods and for increasing the bioavailability of therapeutic agents in a subject. The compositions include at least one alkyl glycoside and at least one therapeutic agent, wherein the alkylglycoside has an alkyl chain length from about 10 to about 16 carbon atoms.
Claims34
An aqueous pharmaceutical composition comprising:
- a) an opioid compound;
- and
- b) an alkylsaccharide,
- wherein the composition has a pH of about 6.0 to 8.0.
A method of providing rapid onset of pain relief in a subject comprising intranasally administering a composition, the composition comprising:
- a) an opioid compound;
- and
- b) an alkylsaccharide,
- wherein the composition has a pH of about 6.0 to 8.0, and wherein the composition exhibits a Tmax of less than about 20 minutes, thereby providing rapid onset of pain relief in the subject.
A method of increasing bioavailability and absorption of an opioid compound in a subject comprising intranasally administering a composition, the composition comprising:
- a) an opioid compound;
- and
- b) an alkylsaccharide,
- wherein the composition has a pH of about 6.0 to 8.0, thereby increasing bioavailability and absorption of the opioid compound in the subject.
