Abstract
A method for strengthening and repairing keratin fibres including providing a caustic as well as an acidic crosslinking composition, wherein the caustic crosslinking composition comprises an at least bi-functional Brønsted-base and the acidic crosslinking composition comprises an at least bi-functional organic acid, and a cosmetically acceptable carrier; applying the caustic as well as the acidic crosslinking composition to keratin fibres; and optionally mixing the caustic crosslinking composition into a commercially available hair colouring or hair bleaching composition.
Claims17
A method for treating hair, the method comprising the steps of:
- a) applying to the hair a first composition comprising at least one bi-functional Brønsted-base of general composition X—R—Y, wherein X and Y are proton-acceptor groups and R is an organic spacer comprising 1 to 20 carbon atoms, and 0 to 5 oxygen atoms, and 0 to 5 nitrogen atoms, and X—R—Y having a molecular weight of less than 500 g/mol;
- and
- b) applying to the hair a second composition comprising at least one bi-functional organic acid capable of reacting with the amine groups of the hair;
- wherein the first composition has a pH of 7 to 12, and the second composition has a pH of 1.5 to 7.

A kit for treating hair, the kit comprising a first composition and a second composition, wherein the first and second compositions are two separate compositions, wherein the first composition comprises at least one bi-functional Brønsted-base of general composition X—R—Y, wherein X and Y are proton-acceptor groups and R is an organic spacer comprising 1 to 20 carbon atoms, and 0 to 5 oxygen atoms, and 0 to 5 nitrogen atoms, and X—R—Y having a molecular weight of less than 500 g/mol, and wherein the second composition comprises at least one bi-functional organic acid capable of reacting with amine groups of the hair, and the first composition has a pH of 7 to 12, and the second composition has a pH of 1.5 to 7.
A kit for treating hair, the kit comprising a first composition, a second composition, and a third composition, wherein the first, second, and third compositions are three separate compositions, wherein the first composition comprises at least one bi-functional Brønsted-base of general composition X—R—Y, wherein X and Y are proton-acceptor groups and R is an organic spacer comprising 1 to 20 carbon atoms, and 0 to 5 oxygen atoms, and 0 to 5 nitrogen atoms, and X—R—Y having a molecular weight of less than 500 g/mol, and wherein the second composition comprises at least one bi-functional organic acid capable of reacting with amine groups of the hair, and the first composition has a pH of 7 to 12, and the second composition has a pH of 1.5 to 7, and the third composition is a hair care conditioner.
