Abstract
An N-M tomography system comprising: a carrier for the subject of an examination procedure; a plurality of detector heads; a carrier for the detector heads; and a detector positioning arrangement operable to position the detector heads during performance of a scan without interference or collision between adjacent detector heads to establish a variable bore size and configuration for the examination. Additionally, collimated detectors providing variable spatial resolution for SPECT imaging and which can also be used for PET imaging, whereby one set of detectors can be selectably used for either modality, or for both simultaneously.
Claims51
A nuclear medicine detector unit comprising a collimator comprising:
- a first set of first septa;
- a second set of second septa interleaved with said first set of septa;
- a plurality of first septum slots disposed on a first side of each of said first septa, each of said first septum slots receiving a portion of one of said second septa;
- and
- a plurality of second septum slots disposed on a first side of each said second septa, aligned with said plurality of first septum slots each of said second septum slots receiving a portion of one of said first septa;
- wherein said first and said second set of septa define therebetween an array of collimator cells.
A nuclear medicine detector unit comprising:
- a plurality of rigidly interlocked septa;
- wherein said septa define therebetween an array of collimator cells.
A method of manufacture of a collimator for a nuclear medicine tomography system comprising:
- interleaving a first set of septa with a second set of septa such that:
- a plurality of first septum slots disposed on a first side of each of said first septa, each receive a portion of one of said second septa;
- and
- a plurality of second septum slots disposed on a first side of each said second septa, aligned with said plurality of first septum slots each receive a portion of one of said first septa;
- wherein said first and said second set of septa define therebetween an array of collimator cells.
