Abstract
Described are antimicrobial polymer products made from mixtures of antimicrobial organometallic additives dispersed throughout a polymer host matrix.

A method comprising the following step:
- (a) mixing one or more antimicrobial organometallic additives with a liquid polyurethane at room temperature to form a polymer product comprising the one or more antimicrobial organometallic additives dispersed throughout the polymer host matrix,
- wherein each of the one or more antimicrobial organometallic additives is water insoluble or sparingly soluble in water and comprises a long-chain fatty acid group,
- wherein a majority of metallic species dispersed throughout the polymer host matrix are in the one or more antimicrobial organometallic additives.
