Abstract
The invention provides seed and plants of tomato hybrid SV8516TM and the parent lines thereof. The invention thus relates to the plants, seeds and tissue cultures of tomato hybrid SV8516TM and the parent lines thereof, and to methods for producing a tomato plant produced by crossing such plants with themselves or with another tomato plant, such as a plant of another genotype. The invention further relates to seeds and plants produced by such crossing. The invention further relates to parts of such plants, including the fruit and gametes of such plants.
Claims25

A method of producing a tomato plant comprising an added trait, the method comprising introducing by transformation a transgene conferring the trait into a plant of tomato hybrid SV8516TM, tomato line PSQ-176-OMNI, or tomato line PSQ-24-2147, a sample of seed of said hybrid and lines having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-121828, ATCC Accession Number PTA-121829, and ATCC Accession No. PTA-11327, respectively, and crossing said plant of tomato line PSQ-176-OMNI and plant of tomato line PSQ-24-2147 to produce a plant of hybrid SV8516TM comprising the added trait.
A tomato plant of tomato hybrid SV8516TM, further comprising a transgene, a sample of seed of said hybrid SV8516TM having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-121828, wherein said plant otherwise comprises essentially all of the morphological and physiological characteristics of tomato hybrid SV8516TM.
A tomato plant of tomato hybrid SV8516TM, further comprising a single locus conversion, a sample of seed of said hybrid SV8516TM having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-121828, wherein said plant otherwise comprises essentially all of the morphological and physiological characteristics of tomato hybrid SV8516TM.
A method for producing a seed of a tomato plant derived from tomato hybrid SV8516TM comprising the steps of:
- (a) crossing a tomato plant of hybrid SV8516TM with itself or a second tomato plant;
- a sample of seed of said hybrid having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-121828;
- and
- (b) allowing seed of a hybrid SV8516TM derived tomato plant to form.
