Electronic iris for a camera

A camera comprising:

• a camera body;
• a lens assembly to direct light to an image sensor, the lens assembly comprising a plurality of lens elements and an electronically controlled iris, the electronically controlled iris comprising:
• a transparent conductor layer to supply an input voltage to control a diameter of an aperture;
• a transparent resistance layer below the transparent conductor layer, the transparent resistance layer receiving the input voltage at a connector point in a center region and receiving a peripheral voltage at edges, the resistance layer providing varying control voltages in different regions that decrease with a distance from the center point;
• and
• a diaphragm layer receiving the varying control voltages, the diaphragm layer to operate as a diaphragm in one or more outer regions to block light in response to a corresponding control voltage being below a voltage threshold and to operate as the aperture in one or more inner regions to transmit the light in response to the corresponding control voltage being above the voltage threshold.
